What d'ya reckon? Is this fair? I'm not sure. From time to time you see this from many other racers. I think the cameras often pick on one person at the wrong time and it's important to remember there's two sides to each story.
Windsurfing's far from a dirty sport - unlike some games. I think you'd be hard-pushed to find a sport where the levels of competitiveness are this intense yet the spirit and friendship amongst competitors is so high.
It's a bit like Rugby. Sometimes tempers fray but everyone can have a beer together after the game and it's forgotten.
It's all good and shows the passion behind what these guys do for a living - especially in the relatively new 'no-rules' environment of mark-rounding in the PWA Slalom regulations. I love it. All of it.
Anyway, I've always thought Finian was a perfect Gentleman. In fact he's probably the most charming 6' 5" 260-pound guy you'll ever meet. Sir.
